Leah Hicks, 32, was taken into custody on Tuesday, March 19, after allegedly driving recklessly on White Oak Road in Stafford, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
A concerned caller reported a Ford struggling to stay in its lane, prompting deputies to respond to the area, officials said. The driver pulled into the Walgreens parking lot, making it easy for authorities to locate her.
When Epps approached Hicks, she appeared “extremely disoriented” and reeked of alcohol, officials said. Instead of complying with field sobriety tests, Hicks simply put her hands behind her back as if preparing to be arrested, according to the sheriff's office.
A records check revealed she had been convicted of DUI in February and was required to have an interlock device installed in her vehicle—which was not present, investigators said. It was also discovered that Hicks had been arrested for DUI just one day prior in Prince William County.
She was charged with driving under the influence—third offense within five years—driving without an interlock system, and driving without a license. Hicks was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Authorities reminded the public: "Drive sober or get pulled over."
